The latest weather report shows that tropical storm Cristobal is targeting the Caribbean. Hopefully it won't hit Florida. There are no reports on whether or not it is headed that way at this time.
Florida will almost certainly be hit be a tropical storm or hurricane in the future, perhaps even this year. But it is impossible to say when or when in the state it will hit. The only active Atlantic hurricane at this time, Irene, is not expected to hit Florida.

The last known tornadoes to hit Florida occurred during the landfall of tropical storm Fay. Fay was quite powerful for a tropical storm. Damaging winds, torrential rain and incredible flooding were other effects of the storm. Though it has now calmed to an extra-tropical depression, the damage is quite excessive.

In August 2008 Tropical Storm Fay, but that storm fell short of becoming a hurricane.
Sandy formed on October 22 as Tropical Depression Eighteen and became Tropical Storm Sandy a few hours later. The storm did not hit land until October 24, when it struck Jamaica as a category 1 hurricane.
