RPM is kept constant by the idle regulator for the engine, cruise control, or by your foot on the pedal. So when the AC compressor kicks on, the extra drag that it causes automatically gets compensated by a slight increase in fuel to the engine.
It's like the difference between driving up a hill, and coasting down a hill. Your engine might have the same rpm in both directions, but your foot would be pushing the accelerator down further (more gas) when you're driving uphill.
Sometimes you can 'feel' the drag on the engine when the compressor turns on. It's less noticeable, and has relatively less effect on mpg, in cars with bigger engines.
Also, the comparisons I've seen only tested the difference at highway speeds, where the inertia of the higher rpm probably helps minimize the drag. I suspect that the extra fuel consumption is even greater with stop 'n go city driving.

It depends on how cold you want the area that your using the air conditioner on.
One cause of a cars air conditioning to brake is the temperature of the air conditioner. Using to much cold air at a certain amount of time can damage your air conditioner.
Air conditioner covers are a great way to extend the life of your air conditioning unit. They can protect the air conditioner from elements such as heavy wind and pounding rain, therefore keeping the unit in great working order.
Use the air conditioner whose product of votage X amps is the lowest if you want to pay the least to operate.
air conditioner maintain the humidity, temp, pressure, sound, air velocity, dust control. if we have to maintain more than 2-4 rooms at a time with one air conditioner then we are using this type of air conditioner. in this system one duct or line have to go through all rooms to flow the pure & cooled air to the rooms & one duct or line have to bring all corrosive air outside the rooms & flows into outwards. This type of conditioner called ductable air conditioner.
Central Air Conditioners are installed into your house to provide cooling air in every room using a duct system. They are very refreshing on a hot day.
