In regular drug-test for jobs or at home drug test it will show up as a benzodiazepine, BUT if you are on probation or its an extended drug test and they send it into a lab they can tell the difference between the chemical makeup of the drug xanax is alprazolam and Ativan is lorazepam. so basically if your urine gets sent to a lab then you will fail. oh and also xanax can show up as a false positive for oxazepam it happend to me recently

Lorazepam (Ativan) and alprazolam (Xanax) belong to the same class of drugs, benzodiazepenes. Any test that checks for benzodiazepene use will return a positive for either drug. It is possible to test more specifically, but the high cost usually curtails the use of such tests. The average urine test is not going to distinguish between types of benzodiazepenes.

∙ 13y agoBenzodiazepines (such as Xanax / alprazolam and Klonopin / clonazepam) are not part of the standard 5-panel drug screen frequently used for pre-employment type drug screening.
The medications can be detected in a more expansive test. It is most likely that the test would identify the drug family (benzodiazepines) in which case alprazolam and clonazepam would test the same.
It is possible, however, that the drugs could be detected individually if the correct test was used.

Which is stronger Ativan or Klonopin?
Both belong to class the class of "super-potent" benzodiazepines. Technically, Klonopin is more potent than Ativan (0.25mg-0.5mg klonopin = 1mg ativan), but if you are wondering which produces more euphoria, most would agree Ativan beats Klonopin. My psychiatrist recently swapped me from klonopin to ativan for my social anxiety, and I find ativan works faster and produces a much more calming effect than the klonopin did.

No, Xanax is the trade name for a drug called Alprazolam. The drug Lorazepam has a trade name of Ativan. Both are benzodiazapens that work in a similar way, however they are different drugs.
