Depending on how much it is out of date it should work ok although the expiry date is there to give you guidance on when things should be used for your SAFETY as well as for quality.
For the minimal cost involved in throwing it away and getting some more it might be best not to risk it.
Possibly you bought too much when you originally bought it in the first place, so when you do buy some more, just buy what you need for the recipe then you wont have this problem again.
