Your brakes could fail, depending on the severity of the problem. Should get it check out asap, brakes and tires are the most important things, and problems shouldn't be taken lightly. I had an experience when this happened, was test driving a car that the customer said brake light was on, fluid a little low, test drove and the master cylinder gave out and almost couldn't stop the car, had to downshift and use the e-brake to avoid an accident.
Depends on your state. Where I am a warning light on is a fail.
The brake light is telling you there is a problem with the brakes. There could be several reasons. Have a qualified mechanic check the vehicle's brake system soon!
Take you car in to a mechanic and have the brakes checked.
This warning light means that you need to add brake fluid to your car. Improper fluid levels can cause brake malfunction resulting in an accident.
On my car it means the emergency brake is on
If your brake warning light is on, and for reasons that you are not aware of, you should NOT be driving this vehicle. If you know what is causing the brake warning light to come on, have remedied the problem, but the warning still persists, then you will have to take your car to a shop that is equipped for working on these brakes. And if the car is equipped with traction control/anti-lock brakes, the system is a lot more sophisticated, and near impossible for the home mechanic to work on anymore.
It is simply 'telling you' that one or more of your head light, park light, or brake light bulbs are out. This includes the 'third' brake light so check all.
the parking brake is either sticking or the sensor is bad This could also be a warning that there is something wrong with the braking system. The light is not only for the parking brake in most vehicles.
Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner
check your brake light or tail light you probably have a bulb burned out
It means the hand-brake in engaged. Make sure the hand-brake is fully down, and the warning light should dissappear. If not, it could be a hand-brake re-adjustment is in order, or there is a fault with the warning light itself. It is important to know what the warning lights mean when they light up. The ABS light comes on when there is an issue with the Brake system in a car.
