It is important to have a diagram of the wiring system in a car. The wiring diagram for a 1979 GMC Jimmy can be found it is maintenance manual.
Do you need the body wiring diagram, the Federal engine control wiring diagram, or the California engine control wiring diagram for a 1985 S-15 Jimmy 4X4?? What size engine does your GMC have? I would be happy to scan my Chilton's diagrams and email them to you. Reply to coulomb4000.com and I will scan what you need and send it via email.. Put "GMC wiring diagram" in the subject line, so I know what is about.. I am working on my 1986 GMC S-15 Jimmy 4X4 and have 2 manuals to work from. That is how I found this question.. Dave
See if your public library has a Chilton's Handbook with the diagram. Ask a reference librarian to help.
Probably passenger side lower rear of engine
When making changes to an electrical or wiring system, a diagram is important to have on hand. A wiring diagram for this car can be found in its manual or an auto tech at an auto part store, or shop may print one out.
Not really a diagram, but a list of the colors for the stereo. Hope it helps. http://www.autotoys.info/forum/showthread.php?t=1998
Flat battery or sticky starter motor / solenoid - try re-charging battery or get a jump start Flat battery or sticky starter motor / solenoid - try re-charging battery or get a jump start
The fusable link should be located at the starter connection on the solenoid. Where the main positive cable hooks to the starter solenoid there should also be a smaller wire connected on the same terminal. The smaller wire will be the fusable link. Make sure to disconnect the battery before attempting to remove the nut from the solenoid terminal.
Disconnect the - battery terminal Raise and support vehicle if needed Disconnect wiring harness from top of starter Remove mounting bolts Drop starter
IF you are jumping the right set of terminals, then: The solenoid is failing to 'push' the starter (pinion) into place and engaging the flywheel. The solenoid needs to be replaced, although the pinion and plunger is most likely worn: and replacing the whole starter assembly is normally not that much more expensive. Please note however that you could be jumping the power to the starter only thereby bypassing the solenoid. Solenoid: ---- P ------ R -------- S ----- X ----- P = Power or Battery cable X = Starter motor R = Run position (Starter bypass coil power) S = (Purple wire) Start from Key Be sure you are jumping power to the START wire, not the X starter terminal.
No such thing as a free wiring diagram. Not one that you would trust anyway. http://free-auto-repair-advice.blogspot.com/2007/11/finding-repair-information-you-need-at.html
I have a Haynes repair manual, "Chevrolet & GMC S-10 & S-15 Jimmy, 82 thru 93" It has wiring diagrams for the vehicles in it and so far have been accurate. The ISBN # for bookstore ordering is ISBN 1 56392 116 2. Hope this helps. 799-1159
