∙ 13y agoTechnically you can have bleeding. I found out I was pregnant went for an hcg level check got a count of 350 and started what I thought was my period or miscarriage over that weekend. My ob then had me go for a second count to make sure my numbers were lowering. They had indeed increased and I was still bleeding (like a normal period for me).
They continued to monitor me and my hcg increased to over 2000 over a 2 week period. Which is much slower then normal. I eventually had the methotrexate treatment.
So, yes, you can have what you believe to be a period and have a tubal pregnancy.

∙ 13y agoYes! Tubal ligation is a form of sterilization that involves interrupting the fallopian tube so that the egg from the ovary cannot reach the sperm as they travel through the uterus and into the tubes. Your period is a function of the cycling of the hormones that your ovary makes. Since tubal ligation does not affect the function of the ovary, you will continue to have periods.

∙ 13y agoYes, it is possible to get pregnant after a tubal ligation. In rare instances the tubal ligation does not work and you may get pregnant but the instance of ectopic rate is very high and a doctor should be consulted right away.
IVF is also available for those who want to conceive after a tubal ligation. This can be very expensive and many cannot afford.
Tubal ligation reversal surgery is also an option. As proven in the Tubal Ligation Reversal Pregnancy Report 2009 this treatment has a better overall pregnancy success rate. Not only is it less taxing to the woman's body it is less expensive.

∙ 12y agoWhile it is possible the chances are very small. Tubal ligation has less than a 2% failure rate. The failures are mostly seen right after the procedure is done (within the first 3 months) while healing is taking place or many years later (10+) due to the tubes growing back together. However, the later is occurring less and less as tubal ligation is being performed differently than it once was.
Women who have had tubal ligation should be aware that they are at greater risk for ectopic pregnancy which can be life threatening. So if you feel that you could be pregnant after having tubal ligation seek medical care as soon as possible.
For women deciding that they wish to have children after tubal ligation there have been many medical advances such as Tubal Reversal Surgery. The surgery is expensive and not often covered by insurance but is around 80% effective. Women whom have had tubal ligation can also under go IVF treatments with much success.

Tubal ligation is not 100 percent effective, although it is nearly so. However, one ramification of the surgery is that periods can be irregular.

The more time that passes after a tubal ligation the (slightly) higher the risk of regeneration of the fallopian tube/s. It is extremely rare but it can happen. Because there is scar tissue from the tubal ligation, there is also an increase chance of a tubal pregnancy. If your period suddenly stops, whether you are having symptoms of pregnancy or not, take a pregnancy test or see your OB / GYN.
