By looking at the build of it. If it's a gas turbine, jet engine, ramjet, or rocket motor, then it's not internal combustion. If it uses pistons in enclosed cylinders, then the combustion occurs internally, within the engine housing. Hence, that would be an internal combustion motor. a reciprocating steam engine is external combustion even though it has enclosed cylinders

A four stroke internal combustion engine can have any number of pistons, from one to one million. They usually have even numbers in order to maintain engine stability. The "four stroke internal combustion" signifies the type of engine. There are two stroke internal combustion engines, mostly one or two cylinder engines used in lawn mowers. An internal combustion engine is one that ignites an air fuel mixture within itself and uses the resulting explosion for power. There are external combustion engines, which are usually powered by steam heated in a separate container and pumped into the engine. Four stoke engine utilize a four step (or stroke) process in order to run. The steps are the intake stroke, where the engine breaths in air and fuel, the compression stroke, where it squeezes the air and fuel, the power stroke, where it ignites the air fuel mixture, and finally the exhaust stroke, where it pushes the remains of the ignition out. Usually by the expansion of a gas (steam, combustion products, etc) which moves a piston within a cylinder (or turns a turbine).
It may be that your clutch master cylinder is bad, or more than likely one of the internal components within the cylinder, have the clutch master cylinder checked.
What you're looking for is 'Internal Combustion Engine'. Fuel mixed with air gets ignited inside the engine and creates gases within it. The pressure from the explosions then turns mechanisms in the engine and gives it motion. Sound good? Bye-Bye!
