MARGARET-THATCHER-was the first British -female-Prime-Minister-during the early eighties-until her retirement in the early nineties,when she was replaced by JOHN MAJOR. She was Prime Minister under the Conservative Government of the time.

Margaret Thatcher was ..no doubt..one of the best female stateswoman,a brilliant woman, who played a key role in the cold war ,and as a result of her brilliant negotiating skills..she made this World a safer place for us all to live in today.

She was also the first British Prime Minister to allow the common man to be able to buy their council homes..at a massive discount..hence creating substantial increases in home ownership in the UK.Subsequently a lot of poor people became very rich as a result through the equities in their discounted properties.She also introduced the privatisation of many loss making state run industries as well as services,like BT [British Telecom] and BR [British Rail] into private hands.

She was also nick named the "IRON-LADY"-because no doubt that is what she was. She now happily lives in retirement."Great leaders of her calibre are far and few in this day and age"!
