Unless you have a 100Mbit+ internet connection it would not be a bottleneck at all, since the WAN port isn't part of your LAN. The WAN port only provides the LAN with internet access. If your internet connection is faster than 100Mbit, it would be a bottleneck for your internet connection, since it can't handle anything faster than that.
View the router as a regular PC with a 100Mbit ethernet port (the WAN port) and a separate 1000Mbit ethernet port with a switch attached to it. As far as the LAN is concerned, it's just a 1000Mbit switch on which one host is providing/sharing its internet connection.
A Router.
it would implode.
router

First of all the router must be installed (the way this can be done varies from router to router), after that one must search for it with their computer and access it with a special key. That is roughly about it. More in depth info can be found at 'PCWorld'.
Vonage routers can be purchased directly from Vonage or from a vendor like Amazon. The Vonage wireless router provides VOIP as well as wireless networking of various devices.
that would be a managed switch which you can then create vlans within the switch you would also need a router if all the segments would be on a different network
There is no significant advantage, you would need a wireless networking card on the expresscard slot, usb port, or on the internal mini-pci express slots.
1km = 1000m
254 really... that is the number of allocations of IP addresses available. For any more, you would need additional networking equipment/dhcp server
It would be on your router. the PS3 does not have a router you have to buy one if you need a router
If you plan on creating a computer to computer network, UTP cable is the best. Otherwhise i would recommend a router so that you may also share your internet connection.
