Yes,
350 same block as 305 plus a few more my 92 has a 5.7 350 in it stock
Yes
The 92 Chevrolet Caprice Classic comes equipped with a 5.0/ 305 c.i.d. engine
They'll bolt up, but they won't properly function. The 86 engine (not motor) would be carbureted, whereas the 92 engine would have Throttle Body Injection.
no the lt1 water pumps uses a reverse flow 94 was the first year this was done. which allowed the engine to run cooler... higher displacement+ more HP
In the front of engine behind water pump and crankshaft
you can get as much power if not more than a 350 by changing the cam, a new intake, pistons, air cleaner, plugs, wires and get some good fel injector cleaner how much do you have to spend? Get the 350. youll want the torque. This all depends on what you have to spend though. if you got $500 then do intake, chip and higher gear ratio in back, assuming you can do most this yourslef. If yyou got a couple grand, find a running 350 swap computer, injectors(2) and other misc. and change cam headers. i would install the 350,see answer above I would go with the 350 swap. More power stock so youre already starting off better with the 350. The only way i would go with the 305 is if I was really worried about gas mileage.
the motor is a 1 for 1 switch you need all the brackets and sensors from your original motor as well as the carb alternator ect. the only problem you might encounter is the computer fuel regulation may be a bit lean because it is allowing for a fuel to air mixture that would be optimum for a 305 but now you have a 350. this is not a big deal if you find you are underpowered or your plugs are whitish and showing a lean burn pick up a computer in the local junk yard from a 92 caprice with a 350 and just plug it in. this is an easy engine conversion just remember to label all sensor wires and the plastic air line routing. i took high def. pictures to help in identifying routing.
Ummmm......... I think you want to use spark plug wires.
They'll bolt up, but not function properly. By the way, the 92 5.7 was not a Vortec engine.
next to the thermostat housing.
its on the passengerside just below the engine behind the exhaust. kinda hard to get too.
in 92 caprice did not come with lt1 only corvette had lt1 in 92
