Not sure what your asking but if your refering to the gear selector if its broke or something isn't functioning right it may keep your car from starting. You see all cars have a nutrual safety switch, the gear selector may be preventing the switch from doing it's job. Wich in turn make it seem like a bad starter. Hope this is what your looking for need more info to further diagnostics.
Obviously, it wouldn't shift.
There may be corrosion on the brushes in the starter and banging it would shift this temporarily Also it could be that the gear has jammed on the flywheel banging it can release this.
No.No.
You may have a broken spring which disengages the transmission allowing it to shift or it is bad linkage going to the transmission.
Broken
The Viagra wore off. Sorry. Does it still shift? If it does, a bushing may have broken at the base of the shifter. If it doesn't shift, a broken cable, or possible the arm at the transmission. A better description of what the transmission is doing or not doing would help.
Broken shift linkage
You typically can't bypass the starter - that is, after all, what actually turns the engine over to start the vehicle. If you have a manual shift vehicle, it is possible to roll start the vehicle. The key needs to be in the on position. You would roll the vehicle while it's in neutral, jump in, and shift it into gear.
what kind of solenoid a shift or pressure control??
Not really describing answer , but i would assume you shifter cables have broken
Parking brake not released, bad torque converter, bad transmission shift solenoid or bad transmission in general, broken shift cable not engaging the transmission.
Loose hold down clamp or broken shift cable.
