dry media is mediums we use that are obviously not wet. some of these are : chalk, pastel, pen, pencil, crayon, charcol...............
First try freezing it with ice-cubes in a bag then trying to scrape as much off as possible with a blunt knife. Try turps or dry-cleaning fluid and sponge and blot (test first). Cleaners with citrus based oils also help. I have used a combination of the above to remove a large black melted crayon stain from cream carpet - even if I had to work at it for a while!
