Although a pack of hyena's have been known to defend against and kill a solitary lion, IMHO a pack of lions would tear a pack of hyenas to shreads.

Who would win a lion or a hyena?

Lions and hyenas most often battle in packs or prides. The net weight of the pack and pride determines the outcome. The group having the largest gross weight usually wins. This means if the combined weight of the entire pack of hyenas outweighs that of the pride of lions the hyenas will win the battle. Therefore in a one on one contest the heaviest is predicted to win. Most often lions will weigh more than hyenas so the lion would win. that's an easy question,a hyena wouldn't even react and it'll be dead.lions are 2 times larger than hyenas ad weight almost 4 times more.hyenas might steal linos carcass only when there are only females and even then they'll had to work together

What are some predators that hunt a lion?

A healthy lion is an apex predator: No animals, other than man, prey on it in its natural habitat. That being said, male lions do kill each other over territory and females. Also, a pack of hyenas can kill a lion, and so can a crocodile, although these sorts of incidents are rare. Neither hyenas nor crocodiles target lions as prey.

What animal attacks lions?

Lions are at the top of the food chain. So no other animal would consistently prey on a lion. Only when the lion dies does scavengers eat them. Some scavengers include vultures and hyenas. Otherwise when lions are alive those same scavengers would be on the lions menu!A pack of hyenas will fight the lion, but nobody eats the lion.

Where do hyenas sleep during the day?

Hyenas hunt and scavenge, the animals they hunt depends on the size of the pack (4-40) They can take down large animals such as buffalo and Rhino in large packs because of there stamina. They have also been known to eat lion cubs and even lionesses. They also eat small animals such as wildebeests. Most of there diet is actually hunted food and not just scavenged food. Lions are not dominate when it comes to catching food. Aggression is shown by Hyenas which can repel lions.

Can a alphamale when against a pack of hyena?

There are no alpha male hyenas as in terms of canines or felines. Hyenas have a matriarchal society (like elephants). So, the males would be submissive to the clan mother. Even if they did fight the clan the results would not be in favour of success.
