When the engine was without oil it was damaged if it knocks. Seel it soon.
Engine oil dipstick? Could be the PCV system is inoperative or the engine has excessive blow-by.
It would be belt driven up in front of the engine.
First of all, my dipstick doesn't do anything when you ride your bike.Secondly, pushbikes - human powered bicycles don't have dipsticks, so maybe you've stuck this in the wrong category.Third, if it is a motorcycle it could have a dipstick in both the gearbox and the engine. An engine dipstick could be pushed out if the engine had poor piston rings, which would allow for more pressure in the crankcase.
You would probably have to follow the dipstick tube to where it meets the engine, remove the bracket bolt and either remove the tube or lift it up to push the dipstick up or out of the tube.
Find the transmission dipstick, which is usually brightly colored and toward the back of the engine. Remove the dipstick, being careful not to spill or drip any fluid. Wipe off the dipstick with a clean rag, just as you would do when checking the engine oil.
On a 2000 Mercury Sable : The automatic transaxle ( transmission ) fluid level dipstick would be near the firewall just to the drivers side of the engine ( where the transaxle is bolted to the engine )
you need to replace the dipstick. because they very so widely, the original equipment dipstick is essential to determine correct levels. the only other alternative would be to check for proper number of quarts in your owners manual, drain the existing oil, remove and replace the filter, and then refill.
Excessive internal engine wear (bad rings)
Driver side of the engine would be a good place to start looking.
No. Almost always the oil pump is mechanically driven by the rotation of the engine. When you turn it over, the pump also turns.
This simply refers to where the power comes from. The "driver" would be the gear receiving power from an engine, and the driven gear would refer to what receives that motion.
