Depends. If the Samurai clan in question didn't care about dishonor, I'm sure they used Ninja for the dirty work. Now imagine you're in the honorable Chosokabe clan. Chosokabe were known for their superior bow infantry and bow samurai, and also their honor. If they were known as honorable, I'm sure they did not use Ninja to kill an enemy Daimyo or General, as they would fight for it. Hope it helped.

By any chance, did you refer to Shogun 2?

Cepeptidon Systems: Well I kind figuired it woulb be considerd extremely dishonorable, but it was a lovely answer, thank you, and no, I don't belive that I referd to Shogun 2, why do you ask?

Would one Samurai clan ever hire Ninjas to use against another Samurai clan?

Why yes, A samurai would follow the art of Bushido, and certain tasks can not be accomplished by them as it would be dis-honorable and against it's conduct. Ninja could be hired for Assassinating, spying, sabotage and a handful of other tasks. They were hired by the Daimyo or the clan or the Shogun. I hope I have helped!

Who would win in a fight samurai or ninja?

The ninja could sneak up on the samurai. But if they both knew the each other was there, it would depend who trained better. But I would bet on the ninja since it has throwing stars.

What is the difference between ninja and samurai swords?

There is and was no "ninja" sword. The "ninja" sword is simply a creation of Hollywood and wives' tales. Ninjas did however, use modified swords which I believe was made from wakizashis. Therefore..the difference between a sword a ninja would have used and one a samurai would have used would be its lenght.

What is the difference between a ninja and samurai?

The ninja is a spy and assassin and works through stealth, misdirection and blending into the surroundings. They killed with poison and other weapons. The samurai is a warrior who's primary weapon is the sword. They lived by the Code of Bushido and were honorable in their means and methods. They would kill themselves if they brought dishonor to their master, themselves or their family. If a ninja could overcome a samurai he would take his sword, simply because they are better. So ninja swords are better than samurai swords.

Did ninja and samurai share a same temple?

Ninja are usually regarded as the anti-samurai. The samurai were extremely overt and colorful personalities. Their whole being depended on public display - death-defying and often death-seeking bravado. The ninja were the opposite: in order to be a spy, you have to survive and be secretive. Secretiveness was something the samurai pretended to despise, but in fact the ninja were vital to military activity. And quite often the samurai during the day doubled as ninja during the night. So could ninja be samurai at the same time? You could, theoretically. There would have been some sort of distinction, because samurai were often extremely high class, but ninja not necessarily so. But there was an overlap in the middle sooo in short yes they could

Did ninjas fight samurais?

Yes, during Sengoku Era Medieval Japan the Samurai were the equivalent to a soldier and the Ninja equivalent to Navy seal team or the CIA. Japan was divided into states with each ruled by a daimyo(warlord) They all fought in controll over the entire Japan. Samurai armies fought open field while Undercover Ninjas only fought when they are caught A daimyo for example would send a ninja who is highly skilled in guerrilla warfare to assassinate an enemy Daimyo so a ninja would bring the right weapons for the mission and sneak in to the enemies castle. The Ninja would avoid the samurai and hide with in the shadows. but if the ninja was suddenly caught by a samurai patrolling the castle, to the ninja they feel as if they already failed the mission but in the point of view of the samurai they would be in fear since they heared fake stories, rumors of how ninjas are unkillable demons. In conclusion the Ninja only fought the samurai because they were caught in a mission or they had to defend themselves or someone they charished

What is a straight edged katana called?

Perhaps you are thinking of the straight shorter blade that ninjas used against the samurai katana? That is the ninjaken, or ninja sword, obviously a technical term in japenese :P. The ninja would have the same length sheaths as the traditional katana, that way with the shorter blade they could draw it fractionally faster, and thusly surprise and kill the unsuspecting samurai.

Who is more deadlier a ninja or a samurai?

In the right hands both were incredibly deadly. I'd give the "edge" to the katana, as a broad sword, while powerful, takes longer to reverse direction. A katana and/or wakizashi in the hands of a trained samurai could gut and filet you in seconds. Being the lighter weapon, a katana is easier to reverse direction, engage multiple thrusts, and are incredibly sharp. Samurai swords are seen by many as the greatest swords ever made, mostly due to their unique construction, deadly curved blade, incredible sharpness, and high level of training that the samurai received.
