It was not likely, Japan, while scared to death after the dropping of "little boy" on Hiroshima the Japanese Emperor (who spoke for the entire nation) would still not communicate with US peace negotiators. The US was fully prepared for this and went ahead and dropped "fat man" on Nagasaki Which turned out to be a big gamble as the US had only enough Uranium and Plutonium for 2 bombs at the time.
Thankfully though a full scale US invasion of the Home islands was averted, and while the bombing was horrific, it did end up saving both Japanese and American lives as the projected death tools from a full scale invasion would have numbered in the millions.
the Americans dropped an atomic bomb on japan to save millions of American lives that would have been lost in the invasion of mainland japan
If the atomic bomb was dropped on Germany during World War II, it could have potentially ended the war sooner and with less casualties. The impact on history and the world would have been significant, as it would have changed the course of the war and the post-war era.
Basically the world needs an atomic clock because of its unmatched accuracy in time measurement, man's high-speed, interconnected world performs because different pieces of technology have been synchronized using accurate time.
One thing is that since the age of atomic weapons there has not been any more world wars.
Among many other things, Japan would have been divided into a communist North Japan and a free South Japan.
The atomic bomb has been tested in many parts of the world but it was used as a weapon in World War II when one each was dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.
have you been eating yellow cake? no, because no matter how hard you try, you would not fart enough weapons grade plutonium, uranium or radioactive hydrogen. I don't think there is enough farting power to ever do this, if everyone joined in. Now a regular bomb, maybe.
Thousands and thousands of American and Japanese lives would have been lost in conventional fighting.
Communism verses non-communists. But, communists and non-communists EXISTED before the cold war. The Atomic Age created the cold war. If no nuclear weapons existed, there would have been no cold war. There would probably have been a hot one. World War 3 if the the communists wished to start one. But without atomic weapons, it would have been a world war fought looking very much like the Korean War did; jets against jets, etc.
The U.S. originally built the atomic bomb to end WW2 because it was the only alternative to invading Japan, which would have cost many, many more lives and been worse for all involved. Now atomic bombs are used for a balance of power - "If you nuke us we'll nuke you back" is enough to stop a few wars.
No, but now we have two types of atomic bombs: fission and fusion. The world war 2 bombs were only fission.
The atomic bomb has never been used in Mexico, but it has been used in Japan during World War II. The atomic bomb caused many devastating effects, such as deformities in people and crushing buildings.
