Hamster food will not necessarily kill your guinea pig, but it does not contain the necesary nutrients required by the cavy. Malnutrition can lead to further serious problems. It's best to use food thats formulated specifically for your animal.

∙ 10y agoOn the contrary, a mouse could hurt the guinea pig. Guinea pigs are strictly prey animals & their only defenses are to run & hide, or to freeze in place. A mouse could easily chew on a guinea pigs ears, nose, etc.
Some people swear that it's okay to put rabbits & guinea pigs together. This, too, is a bad idea. Rabbits can accidentally hurt a guinea pig by the immense size difference alone.
One last thing; diet. Guinea pigs, mice & rabbits all have different nutritional needs. So, if you cage them together, they will eat each other's food & not get the proper nutrition each animal needs.

∙ 12y agoMore like vise versa. Don't even think about putting a hamster and guinea pig together. Not a good idea! The guinea pig would most likely try to hurt the hamster.
