The ring of fire has so many earth quakes because it is were the pacific techtonic plate meets the land's techtonic plate. As you know earthquakes are caused by the motion of techtonic plates either sliding onto one another, or simply grinding. Because they are always moving there is always a high risk or earth quakes.

Because thay is where the cracks in the Earths surface are. That's called plate tectonics. When the move it creates volcanoes, and earthquakes which is basically what the Ring of Fire is. Its a border of Volcanoes surrounding the Pacific Ocean :)
