However, many branches of Christianity and their clergy accept that sinners are admitted to heaven nonetheless so long as they meet other criteria for salvation, such as acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah and/or baptism, among others.
Of significant but not at all universally accepted importance is whether or not the person asking this sinful question died before having time to repent from the sin and ask forgiveness either directly from God -- or in the case of Roman Catholicism, via the sacrament of Penance or Reconciliation. Catholics would nearly universally accept that absolution from a priest of this sin would wipe the slate completely clean. They would probably debate (with some coming out on both sides) whether this sin would be sufficient to bar entry to heaven if still unabsolved prior to death.
