It could be that you are simply eating healthily and than anything the baby needs is being taken from any reserves of fat that you have elsewhere in your body. If you experience a dramatic weight loss after you have the baby, then this is probably the case. It's not always all about weight.

What about all these women we see on the tv who go through entire pregnancies where they didn't even know they were pregnant and nothing changes duing their pregnancy?

Don't eat unhealthily simply to put on weight, ask your health care provider what to do. If you're healthy and the baby is developing normally then you have nothing to worry about.
