I'm an 18-year old senior in high-school. I'm 5'9", and I have blonde hair that reaches down to my butt. I wear it down all the time.
Don't let anyone tell you what's in style or not. If you like it, go for it. If people don't like it, too bad for them. :] Long hair is beautiful.
