I think the fist thing you have to be realistic about...are they right about what they are suing you for...if it is a debt, do you owe it? If even you agree they would win (you just "don't have the money")...your obviously better trying to negotiate a resolution, some pay plan, whatever, AND STICK TO IT. You tryand let them know you care and want to resolve it.....being nice to them even when they aren't goes a long way...especially when you've caused the problem. If you can think of any argument as a defense, a reason, that the judge would not agree with their contention....GET A LAWYER and defend yourself man! I would add, even if you can't think of an argument, but that there may be circumstances....most lawyers will consult/review for free and they can certainly make arguments (sometimes when none exists).
