Both passports have the advantage of visa-free travel to other countries.

Advantages and disadvantages:

British Passport (only if 'British Citizen' is written as your nationality):

  • The right to live, work, study, and retire anywhere in the European Union for an unlimited period of time without a visa.
  • Can travel to a few countries where Canadians require a visa or at least have to pay an entry toll (e.g. Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and the U.A.E.)
  • Access to working holiday visa scheme (Canadian passport has this too).
  • You'll have more difficulties with your British passport to enter the US since you'd have to register online and wait for approval. This is every two years or the expiry of your passport; whichever comes first.

For Canadian passport, the only good advantage is for your travels to the United States because you would not need a visa for a stay of up to six months (for British passports it's maximum 90 days) and, you do not have to go through complications as the citizens of V.W.P participating countries do.
