If the car turns over and actually runs for a brief period, I would think that your ignition system is OK. It sounds more like a fuel delivery problem to me.
However, my Haynes manual lists several causes it the troubleshooting chapter.
1.Loose or faulty electrical connections at the ignition coil.
2. Insufficient fuel reaching the fuel injectors
3. Vacuum leak at the gasket between the intake manifold/plenum and throttle body.
4. Fault in the engine control system.
5. Intake air leaks, broken vacuum lines.
