You get error 1305 when you try to upgrade from adobe reader 7.09 to 8.1 What should you do?

I could not find anything that was helpful. I ended up reinstalling adobe reader 7.09, despite the warning of incompatibility issues with Vista. (I had saved an old copy of 7.09)
