No!it was either the trans. Or motor.one of them had to be pulled.
The starter is underneath the car on the passenger side. The flywheel is in the transmission bellhousing.
starter gear is to close to flywheel install starter shim
remove starter remove transmission unbolt flywheel
Seek around the flywheel, The Flywheel is between engine and transmission. The starter is probably under the intake like the 7MGE.

Remove the trany and you will see the flywheel bolted to the rear of the motor. Remove the bolts & replace the flywheel. Check the starter as a bad starter can chew the teeth off of a flywheel very quickly.
the starter should be bolted to the transmission or to the back of the engine at the flywheel/flexplate.
The location of a starter on a Plymouth Fury will depend on the year. Most older Plymouth Furys have the starter located just under the driver's side of the motor where the transmission is bolted to the motor. The starter must engage the flywheel and the flywheel is located in the large bell shape of the transmission.
The flywheel can be cracked or the teeth on the flywheel can be broken or worn. Either of these conditions require the flywheel be replaced. I would also replace the starter when replacing the flywheel. This will prevent damage to the new flywheel from the worn teeth on the old starter.
not specific for car type, but the starter should be near the rear of the engine this being that it comes in contact with the flywheel/flexplate, (between engine and transmission) usually to replace you just remove the two or three bolts attaching it to the flywheel cover and then it pulls right out, and then to install a new one it is just the reverse.
Yes it will as long as it's a FE C6. Also, if you do install it make sure of the starter you have. If you have the long neck style starter you will need to replace the flywheel and starter to have it fit. You can use the one from a 66 and up 390 motor.
The starter is always by your transmission flywheel the cylinoid on the starter has to jump out to the flywheel to turn the motor. Also you can go to auto zone web site to find out locations for parts on your vehicle. Good luck.
