EGR EGR
yeah listen to that question overdrive that kicks in around 50 to 55
It kicks off electronic overdrive
If it has a 4L60E then you need a new transmission control solenoid inside the transmission. If you have the 4L80E then you need to find and change the transmission control module
A 1993 Chevy Corsica can only reach 111 MPH before the factory governor will be applied....this is with the 2.2 Liter engine
the overdrive is used to save gas. it is an additional gear after your final gear in the transmission. this gear usually kicks in at higher speeds (maybe 50+). you will notice the tach drop down about 500 rpm's as the vehicle kicks into overdrive. it does not make your car go faster or slower. you will not have be able to accelerate as fast in overdrive as you will in other gears. if it is an automatic overdrive then as you slow down the overdrive will automatically be taken off.
In a 2005 Workhorse chassis motorhome, the overdrive typically engages at around 45-50 mph, depending on driving conditions and engine load. Overdrive is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce engine RPM at higher speeds. When activated, it allows the vehicle to maintain highway speeds more efficiently. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific details related to your model.
If the engine sounds loud like it's going faster than you really are it could be that you have lost your overdrive gear in the transmission. Once you hit freeway speeds, the automatic overdrive kicks in. If the engine seems to be operating normal, your tachometer might be faulty. Ken
It's usually on all the time unless you press the button each time you start the car. I think that normally the overdrive kicks in around 45 MPH.
No overdrive but the non turbo 4cyl had a lock out torque converter that usually kicks in at about 46-48 mph. Gave an extra 2+mpg. Not available on turbo cars.
Yes, the limiter kicks in at around 4400-4600 RPMs
1500 at first until it kicks down to 850 rpm
sounds like overdrive clucth pack is burned up. you can just replace the trans to fix it or a cheaper way to go is to replace just the overdrive clutch pack
