HAs the oil been changed recently ? If not bad / burnt oil problem the head gasket may need replacing. If It has run very high Kms. engine may also be on it's last legs.
Go to autozone, and get a diagnostic for free! For me it was only a small vacuum hose going to constant pressure valve, not the valve itself and they gave me a section of vacuum hose for free. It's behind and below the air filter next to the firewall. they can show you where too...The diagnostic will give you 3-4 scenarios..

A bad spark plug or spark plug wire can cause your engine to miss and lack power. A bad fuel injector or dirty fuel injector can also cause the problem.
If your Chevy 350 marine engine misses at high speed, you might have an issue with the timing. This can be adjusted. You also may have an issue with the fuel filter or injectors. Spark plugs can do that also.
A 2000 Silverado 5.3 Vortec that is hard to start and misses on one side of the engine might have a problem with the coil pack or the spark plugs. It could also mean that the block is cracked if the engine is prone to overheating.

If the engine on the Santa Fe is missing, then the cruise control will not operate properly. The engine will have to run properly before the cruise can be fixed.

depends on age. Its pre 97 change the plugs for the bosch type 3 prong. And add some engine additive.
Use insulated plug wire puller to notice if the engine slowes down and misses when wire is removed
