Usually leaks at hose seals or refill valve. You need a "blue light" to find the leak before it can be repaired. Most good ac repair shops will check it for a small charge. any place that there is an O ring will have the possibility of leaking.
The compressor may have a leak, to check you would need freon with UV dye and a light kit to check for a leak in the a/c system. * If it is leaking - replacement or possible sealing The compressor may not be cycling on due to low freon levels. * Recharge a/c system Those are the most common issues.
check the library for a shop manual and wiring diagrams, assuming your talking about the A/C, there is a low freon pressure switch you can jump TEMPORARILY to see if the compressor and circuit are ok..good luck:)
Look to see if the compressor is running when the ac is on. If not, then check the Freon pressure, as the compressor won't run if the Freon is low.
The freon either needs to be charged which can be done at a local repair shop about $50 - $85 or the the A/C compressor which can cost upwards of $500. Also check for simple leaks or stains under your car from where freon may be leaking out over time.
Check the Freon pressure first. The AC compressor will not turn on if the Freon pressure is too low.
This can be a sign of a bad compressor and you will need to run a compressor check first, this can be done without draining the freon....

check to see if your lowon freon
There are lots of places that can leak freon and some can be sealed with stop leak. The only way is to try it.
Freon is odorless, but it is possible to smell the refrigerant oil that could also be leaking.
There will be two couplers on the system. The one you add freon to is the larger one on the low pressure line. From your compressor, there are two lines, the low pressure is the larger one. Check it and you will find a coupler between the compressor and the firewall.
Mabe your compressor is not kicking on for some reason. Check to see if the front of your compressor starts spinning when you turn it on. If it don't check to see if there is power to the wires that go to your compressor. If there is power you have a bad compressor. If there is not check the fuses or relays.
