You have a 2000 Eldorado and the low AC refrigerant light is on how do you shut it off so you can put in more freon you have done this before and have forgotten how?

Disconnect neg side of battery...then reconnect....have everything hooked up and ready to add the freon., turn a/c on high and add the freon..this will reset the A.C system long enough to let you add freon...

The 1998 Chevy did not come with Freon (R12) installed. Freon was banned beginning in 1996. It contains R-134. You have a leak that needs repairing before adding more refrigerant. None, the refrigerant is R134a not Freon which is R12.

The original refrigerant installed at the factory in 1973 was R12 (Freon). If it has not been converted to R134a, I suggest you convert it now, if it is leaking and needs repair. R12 is no longer in production and the dwindling supply is very expensive. Much cheaper to convert it to R134a.

Yes and no... Freon is a name trademarked bu DuPont for their line of CFC and HFC refrigerants... so it's not actually Freon unless manufactured by DuPont and marketed as such. Not all refrigerant is made by DuPont, and not all refrigerant is of the HFC or CFC type.

"Freon" is DuPont's trademark for its CFC refrigerant products. R-22 is one of those refrigerants, so R-22 and Freon-22 are the same refrigerant.

...it fixed the issue on my 1995 ElDorado, BUT you must disconnect the battery for a little while to reset the computer to allow you to add Freon to the system. I had a leak and it fixed it for about 6 months. Both warnings went away until the system got low again.

It came from the factory charged with R12 Freon. As this refrigerant is extremely expensive and hard to find, I suggest you convert it over to R134 Refrigerant.
