The mode door actuator is a common failure in the early trucks. The old dealer fix involved hours and hours of labor but they now have a tool that makes it a quick fix and you should not get more than a 1 hour labor charge. The y have a technical service bulliten about it and GM has required that all GM dealerships stock the new tool for the quick fix.
