It could be gas trapped in the intestines or it could be that the intestines are having a problem moving waste through. There is a possibility of a problematic ileocecal valve (the valve that connects the small and large intestines.) If the pain was more severe, I would worry about peritonitis or appendicitis, but that's more than just an average tummy ache.
