Take the distributor cap off, crank the engine and see if the rotor turns. Check for no burn marks between the distributor cap contacts. Check the condition of the centre pin inside the distributor cap. If it is not of the spring loaded type, check the spring contact on the rotor then check the rotor for tracking to the shaft.
A bad coil, improper rotor air gap, or corroded spark plug wires or terminals could cause this. Try hooking it up to a lab scope, it will give you more information on exactly what is happening.

Glow plugs and injectors are two different parts of two different engines. You may be referring to glow plugs or spark plugs. If you have a diesel engine, you will have glow plugs. If it is gasoline, it is spark plugs.
