Is this under a vets supervision? I would call the vet.vet has prescribed 2x 5mg tablets twice a day for a bichon frize 6.4kilo.
1ml of benadryl can have a dog for each pound.
No, this would be a very high dose. Call your veterinarian and ask how much Benadryl to give your dog.
If Benadryl is being given to a dog to calm it I have asked my Veterinarian the same question. He told me give the dog 1 wait 30 minutes, give another, wait 30 minutes. Keep going like this till you have the desired effect, a dog will settle down or even go to sleep before yo can over dose them. To be sure, consult a professional before you blame me for any advice I was given and have tried. : )
one milligram per pound.
Yes
can diabetic take benadryl
I am a registered Vet assistant, and have been working at a vet clinic for some time. WE give liquid and pill form benadryl quite often to dogs. The rule of thumb is 1mg per pound. For example: a 25lb dog can take 25mg of benadryl. I read on a veterinarian hospital page that you were NOT supposed to give the liquid form of benadryl to dogs.
You should ask a veterinarian. They will tell you the proper form of benadryl, and the dosage depending on the animal's size.
Yes
an 8 lb. dog needs 16 mg of Benadryl, so you can give it one teaspoon ofchildren's benadryl which has 12.5 mg. make sure it is regular benadryl and doesn't contain acetaminophen (to check, look at the active ingredients in the box or bottle).
You shouldn't give an animal liquid benadryl. The liquid formula has too much alcohol in it and could cause alcohol poisoning. The dose for benadryl tablets is 1 mg per pound three times a day. Generally benadryl comes in 25 mg tablets , so you can cut one in half for your dog. It generally does only a fair job for itching in dogs. If the problem persists make and appointment with your vet.
