If an engine has proper compression, fuel/air delivered in the right ratio and the ignition spark is delivered at the right time when the engine is turned by the starter, the engine HAS to run... no choice.
Go back to basics. If you've worked on something recently and the engine ran BEFORE you worked on it, be suspicious of what has changed. It could be as simple as connecting the plug wires wrong.
fuel pump or fuel filter fuel pump is in the tank
If your 2003 Silverado is lurching or jerking when you start it the most common issue is the fuel pump.
So your Silverado should have a timing chain. That is for the 4.3 liter V6 and the V8's. If you decide to replace it yourself, remember to check timing on the number one cylinder. This is a good start for someone wanting to learn how to do mechanic work. If it is your first try doing engine work, schedule an entire day or more. And it does not hurt to have a mentor. Otherwise, take it to a reputable shop. Good Luck.
You must do this within 5 seconds. Turn key on, DO NOT START then push the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times being sure to let all the way off of it each time. Then turn key off and then start the engine.
It is a common problem for shevy. Usually the Fuel regulator. Or for other vehicles it could be a dirty fuel filter
It requires an OBDII engine scanner to reset the light. If you don't fix the problem that made it come on, then it will not do any good to turn it off. You need to have the engine scaned to see why it came on to start with.
