Seems to me the best (and maybe only) way to get to know her better is to "hang out" with her for awhile. You will never get to know her at all unless you spend some time talking with her. Go ahead and ask her out and see what happens. If she says yes and you have a good time together - great. If not, you are no worse off than you are now but at least you won't have to worry any more about what to do about this girl.
