First, you have to go to the main menu, then select the shuffle option you want. This should randomize the songs either in your current playlist or all the songs on the ipod.
go to file and create new playlist. then drag songs from your library into the new playlist

The tracks in the MusicMatch playlist are simply links (shortcuts) to where the file resides on you computer. If you simply delted the playlist in MusicMatch, then the files are still in your computer. ex: C:\My Documents\My Music or wherever you music files lived.

it can hold a lot of songs but if you have to many songs it could make the shuffle go slower than before you had a lot of songs.
A playlist is only a text file with a list of songs. So if you only have the playlist on a CD then you will not be able to play any songs.
