The phrase "he who will not work shall not eat" is attributed to John Smith, an English soldier and politician who was a leader in the founding of the Jamestown Colony in Virginia. Smith included this rule in his writings as a means of enforcing discipline and productivity among the colonists.
The eye that mocketh at his father, and depiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out,and the young eagles shall eat it. Proverbs 30:17

Becuase smith announced "he that shall not work shall not eat"
John Smith believed in the principle of "If any would not work, neither should he eat" as a way to instill a sense of responsibility and communal effort among the settlers in Jamestown. He wanted to ensure that everyone contributed to the collective well-being of the colony by working and not relying solely on others for their sustenance.

Not sure, but in the bible it states that "that if any would not work, neither shall he eat" - 2 Thessalonians 3:1 Imagine. Automation prevents humans from working to eat because it destroys jobs. We are fast approaching a time when we will be forced to starve, even if we try to obey the will of God. May God bless us against Automation.
II Thessalonians 3:10 "If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat." (New King James Version)
because the king said if you don't work you don't eat. They had to follow the kings law and obey them.
