Yes, Leviticus is wrong.

  • The first ten chapters tell exactly how make a sacrifice to God on the altar at the Temple. Since no one has made such a sacrifice to God for nearly 2000 years, does that mean that we are all doomed to hell?

Especially, one must offer a male without blemish from one's herd as a burnt offering. Even in the time of Jesus, people no longer offered beasts from their own herds, but purchased sacrifices at the temple, using money from the money changers. Does that mean that the first century Jews were guilty of desecrating the Temple?

  • Chapter 11 tells us what meats are clean and can be eaten, and what can not be eaten. But the New Testament tells us that Christians are not bound by these laws. Who is wrong?
  • Chapter 12 tells us to circumcise our male children. Must we still follow this barbaric custom?
  • Should women really be forbidden from going to church after having a baby? And what is the penalty if she fails to make a burnt offering?
  • Is it fair that if I have sex with a slavegirl, that she should be scourged, but I need only bring a ram for sacrifice and my sin will be forgiven (19:19-22)?
  • Chapter 25 gives us the rules we must follow in buying and caring for slaves. Does this override state laws that prohibit slavery?
Answer:Leviticus was not written to a 21st century audience and thus has no bearing on us today. It was written instructions for priests and worship, sacrifices and offerings, and how ANCIENT Israel was to live distinct from other people in the land as people of the holy God. The Old Testament book contains many "descriptive" rules and regulations that are not "prescriptive" in today's modern culture. The New testament uses Leviticus to speak to the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

Can a person sin if he does not know right and wrong?

Yes, everyone is a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the kingdom of God." Everyone has a conscience in them that tells them if something is right or wrong, even if noone ever actually to told them to their face that it was wrong. A child knows that it is wrong to do what their mother tells them not to do, even if their mother never tells them that disobeying is wrong, but they do it anyway because they are sinners. No. You must know that it's a sin to be guilty of it.

Why was slavery wrong even though it is found in the bible?

Slavery is considered wrong because it violates the inherent dignity and rights of individuals. While slavery is mentioned in the Bible, many interpret these passages as reflections of historical context rather than moral endorsement. Society's understanding of human rights and equality has evolved since biblical times, leading to the recognition of slavery as a grave moral injustice.
