Clogged Catalytic Converter 1995 PontiacI had the same problem with a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am V6 engine so I had a new catalytic converter installed and it still would die out when it was put into drive so the mechanic suggested replacing the fuel filter. After replacing the fuel filter someone suggested checking the fuel injectors because something along those lines caused the initial problem.
Depends on what the smell is and what is causing it. Have the catalytic converter tested before you spend the money to replace it. It maybe something else causing this problem.
Check exhaust hangeers and clamps Check the heat shield on the catalytic converter Cold be a broken baffle inside the muffler
There isn't a converter on a diesel engine.
the converter is blocked inside. you have to replace it.
I have replaced hub bearings like 4 times on my 01 grand prix, anyone else have that problem and the catalytic converter 3 x
Yes if it is totally clogged.
It could be objects shaking in the trunk or something loose on the rear license plate or a problem with the catalytic converter or exhaust pipes.
This light is indicating a emissions problem or failure. The catalytic converter may be operating at low efficiency which is a sign of failure.
It's probably a problem with your catalytic converter.
Depends on what the problem is or what code was set.
Normally when catalytic converters become clogged and need replacing there is a reason for this. Something caused the converter to become clogged. Unless you fix the problem the new converter will just become clogged like the old one. If the check engine light is not on and the vehicle is running perfectly with the new converter then it will more than likely pass the smog test.
