Just find a bolt around the frame or fender area that is in reach of the cable, it just needs to be a metal ground that is attached to frame metal.
If you have a post battery(the cable attaches from the top) the positive post is larger than the negative.
There are typically two cables, one is usually red and the other black. The black cable attaches to the negative terminal on the battery and the red wire connects to the positive terminal on the battery. When removing the battery from the vehicle always remove the negative cable from the battery first. When installing the new battery always connect the negative cable to the battery last.
You replaced the battery, is it good?? You really haven't given sufficient info. Check the Battery, Cables, Solenoid, Starter. The way I read this is that you put in a new battery and the truck's engine will not turn over when you turn the key. When you jump the truck, it turns over, starts, and runs. Are you jumping from positive to positive and negative to negative on the batteries OR are you going battery post negative on the vehicle giving the jump to a frame, engine bracket, or body metal point on your F150? If you are going positive to positive/negative to negative on the batteries, then I suspect your new battery. If you are hooking the negative jumper up to a ground other than the negative post on your battery, then I would suspect a bad negative cable. Speaking of cables, did you clean any corrosion off of the terminals when you replaced the battery? Corrosion does funny things. If in doubt, replace the battery cables.
Can be a dead cell in the battery. If so the battery will have to be replaced. Can also be any light that is pulling power from the battery. Check all lights. Under hood, glove box, dome light, trunk, etc. Disconnect the negative battery cable overnight and if the battery is dead then the battery has a dead cell and must be replaced.
Batteries do not generate electricity; they only store a charge that is generated elsewhere. After that charge is used up, they need to be recharged or replaced.
I have the same codes on my 2005 Explorer, According to what I'm reading elsewhere, the battery needs to be replaced.
The negative battery lead cable is to be connected to the negative lead terminal on the battery.
The red clip attaches to the positive terminal and the black clip attaches to the negative terminal. The positive post should be marked with a + or POS. Your owners manual should also contain instructions for how to jump start the car.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery Leave it disconnected for an hour. (The amount of time it takes to replace the battery). Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This works because a transient (voltage spike, noise) is generated when the terminal is reconnected. This is not necessary when the battery is replaced because the negative terminal is normally the last connected. However, when a car's battery dies in storage for example and is recharged with disconnecting the battery, the car might not start because the computer is not running.
What do you mean how to you change a negative battery wire... the wires itself or the connector that connects it to the battery... the thing that holds to the battery is just like 80 cents at Napa and installs in seconds... the wires is more difficult... but just trace the wires down that needs replaced and make all proper connections.
you have a short where negative is touching the metal of the car or it is grounded inproperly
Normally the black battery cable is negative.
