This is the First Commandment given to the Hebrew people on Mount Sinai.
You shall have no other gods before Me
This is the first of the Ten Commandments. Some scholars have noted that the commandment does not necessarily prohibit the Jews from worshipping other gods, merely that they must not come before, or above, God Almighty.
