When entering a freeway you should always look and make sure that there is an opening for you to enter. You should watch the surrounding traffic.
Highway traffic ALWAYS has right of way to vehicles on any On Ramp, even when the On Ramp is full. Vehicles entering from the On Ramp cannot interrupt the right of way of highway traffic.Highway traffic should, IF safe to do so, move to the left when vehicles are approaching from an On Ramp--- BUT, highway traffic does NOT have to move over to allow incoming cars to merge from an On Ramp.
Before entering a trailer dock, you should verify that your light wheels are docked.
that the wheels are chocked
You should accelerate to the same speed as the traffic in the lane you are merging into. Then adjust as needed when you are safely in the travel lane. (Entering from the left may mean you are entering the fastest lane of travel, and you also may not have a clear view of traffic directly alongside you.)
In most states, YES...You should always signal a lane change on a highway, turning, exiting or entering a freeway. You may get a ticket for failure to signal or unsafe lane change. It also helps other drivers behind you know your intentions and may even help prevent an accident.

In my opinion, yes. For safety, you should always have a water supply established before entering into a hazard area. In this case, if you are in a building with a standpipe and you are entering into a fire, you should have a charged line with enough hose to operate on the fire floor.
