You skipped school how do you stop the voice mail?

First thing is first, DON'T PANIC.

Here's what happened to me:

I skipped school for a full day...accidently. I say accidently because the skipping was not planned, the day just happened to unfold this way.

So I get home around 5:50, about ten minutes before the school is suppose to call and leave a voicemail. My parents are not supposed to be home until later, so I figure I will just delete the voicemail and be done with the whole thing.

WRONG

Guess who decided to take today off? Yeah, this is going to be fun.

The school could be calling any minute, and I am essentially screwed.

So what to do?

-Like I said, don't panic. This really is a simple thing to solve if you keep your cool.

-Your parents don't know that you skipped school, so try and act normal around them.

-The first and most important thing to do is to get to the main phone. If you have a wireless phone this will be easier.

Here are some options:

-Pull the power out of the phone. This may not work if your parents obsess about the phone, or if it is in a place where they always are. If they notice that the phone is unplugged, they will suspect something, plug it back in, and receive the voicemail anyway.

-Unplug the telephone line cord from the back or bottom of the phone base. This is the cord that connects your phone to the network. With this cord unplugged, the phone will appear normal, but no calls can come in. Hint: it is best if you wiggle the cord out a little bit instead of pulling it all the way out. Also, you might want to test this by calling the home phone via cellphone.

-If all else fails, hoard the phone away. Say that somebody important is going to call. Answer the phone quickly when the school calls, but not so quick to raise suspicion. For most schools, you need to say something to activate the voicemail, so pretend you really are talking to someone. Make sure the phone call sounds as important as you said it was going to be, and also make sure to pretend-talk to the right person. Listen to the message closely, it may give you instructions to press a number to verify that you received the message. Make sure you delete the number of your caller ID.

-Once the message has been received, the school will not call back. Breathe a sigh of relief. If you get called into the office at school, make it seem like your parents grounded you. If you have read this, I thank you for your time, and wish you good luck.
