How about "Hi John, this is Jane Smith. I know it's been a while but just wanted to say Hi and see how you're doing." If he wants to connect with you, he will text you back (trust me on this). If you don't hear from him, then you should move on with your life. This is the beauty of text-messaging (saves you both time and embarassment)
