NO. That Bronze star on the Service Medal is not the same. That medal is in recognition of how many deployments to that area. The 'Bronze Star' itself stands alone.

Is there a list of Bronze Star recipients from World War 2?

As far as I know, there is no list for recipients of the Bronze Star Medal from WWII. The reason for this is, unlike higher awards that are awarded strictly for combat actions (Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Distinguished Service Medal- which have lists of recipients) the Bronze Star Medal may be awarded also for non-combat reasons. Because of this, the list would be extraordinarily long, particularly for a period of war.

Is a bronze star and a bronze service star the same thing?

The Bronze star is awarded for acts of valor A bronze service star just denotes participation in military campaigns or multiple engagements in the same campaign. It's an addition to a service medal. You've seen men in uniform with the ribon medals on their left chest I assume. Those are service metals. The bronze service star would be placed on one of those ribbons if they went to that campaign more than once. The Bronze Star is a special medal only awarded for actions of valor not just because you served.

Do you receive a bronze star on your National Defense Service Ribbon if you deploy?

The bronze star on the National Defense Service Ribbon is for service during two periods of conflict. Most likely, that would be Vietnam war and the current post-9-11 period. Someone who served before 1975 still on active duty after Sep 2001 would already have a NDSM, and would add the bronze star for a second award.

What is the Bronze Star issued for?

The Bronze Star medal was established in 1944. Do anything noted above, and you would be qualifed for the award.

What is the difference between the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart?

The Bronze Star Medal is an award presented for heroic or meritorious achievement or service not involving participation in aerial flight. The medal is suspended from a red ribbon with a narrow blue stripe down the middle of the ribbon. A Bronze BATTLE Star is worn upon the Campaign Ribbon of the Theater that the veteran served in. Each Bronze BATTLE Star indicates a campaign that the veteran participated in. When the veteran has earned five Bronze BATTLE Stars, the five are replaced by a single Silver BATTLE Star. My father served in six campaigns in the MTO & ETO, so on his ribbon there was a silver & a bronze campaign star. Richard V. Horrell WW 2 Connections.com

Is there a list of Vietnam navy cross recipients?

Medal of Honor? Distingushed Fyling Cross? Silver Star? Bronze Star? Purple Heart? What medal are you wanting to know about?

Your father had a bronze star bronze star ribbon and then a small bronze star ribbon What does that all mean?

It probably means he earned a Bronze Star Medal. The medal was awarded to the soldier in a case that included three items: A bronze Star Medal, a ribbon and maybe a metallic version of the ribbon. The Bronze Star Medal was a medal in the shape of a STAR that was bronze. It hung from a ribbon that was mainly RED with a BLUE and WHITE strip. If awarded to the soldier, the STAR would have his name engraved on the back. If the ribbon has an Oak Leaf device or a small Star device or a brass "V" attached to the ribbon, this denotes a special recognition for the award. The Oak Leaf represents a second award of the Medal. The "V" recognizes the soldier for Valor.

What is the British army equivalent of the American army bronze star medal?

As the Military Cross is roughly equivalent to the Silver Star, the closest award in the British Army to a Bronze Star would be Mention in Despatches. This is not a medal, but usually awarded as an oak leaf allowed to be worn on the campaign medal.
