i have an 87 olds cutlass...could be a number of things first check all your lines, vacum, fuel, and oil lines, if all seem to be working properly if your car is a v8 with a rochester carbeurator try adjusting the choke to run at a higher idle...if your problem still persists you could have clogage in the carbeurator try running 93 or even higher octane ful to burn off the excess clog

I have an Oldsmobile alero 99 and the security light is constantly on however the car starts leading me to believe the security feature is not working. How can I fix the problem?
I wouldn't fix it if i was you.....I have a 2000 alero, and the security system (passlock) keeps it from starting often, and it seems to be a big problem with them. So if your security system isn't working but the car is running fine I wouldn't mess with it..

I'd suspect a vacuum leak or a problem with the EGR valve, but if I were working on it I wouldn't replace anything until I've had a chance to check into it further. Clean the air intake mass air flow sensor with carb cleaner. . How can you crank it "in gear"??? You got sensor problems.
