sounds like the belts are bad in the transmision. you can have it rebuilt, or buy a remanufactured,or a new one.
Yea, it's probably the speed sensor or more likely a connector.
try the shift sensor on the side of tranny
Manual: Reverse light switch is at the top of the shift tower. Speed sensor on the top of the differential Automatic: Speed sensor on the top of the differential Turbine sensor on the front of the tranny near the filter Tranny temperature sensor on the front of the tranny near the valvebody cover
your gonna love this i just had this problem at my shop it is inside the tranny connected to the mail harness. this is not a job for the novice you have to pull out the valve body ect to get it out. best luck is to bring it to a tranny shop. i had this problem with a used car i have and it only has 60k on it.
It's in a Failsafe mode! (electrical problem) Take it to a tranny shop tell em if they can hook it up to a computer for the tranny and hopefully they'll tell you the problem.... I had the same problem. I found that my 2nd and 4th gears were worn to the point of non existance.
The front seal of the tranny needs replaced, the tranny will have to come out to replace it.
this could be a transimision sensor. Make sure your tranny fluid is full while it is running. A would recommend a product called lucas transmision. It revives trannys. Make sure you pull out tranny fluid, then replace with lucas so you do not overfill your transmission
You will have better luck getting an answer if you spelled it right. It is a Chevy LUMINA not LUMIA.
it should be on front of transmission.
Both the automatic and manual transmissions take Mercon Automatic tranny fluid. The automatic is added by putting a small funnel in the dipstick tube. The manual has to have the speed sensor taken off the top of the transmission to fill. The speed sensor is held in with a clamp and a 10 mm bolt. Carefully pry the speed sensor and speedometer drive out of the opening. They are really hard to get out. To figure out if the level is right you fill it between the top and bottom of the drive gear.
if the speedo is also not working it could be a vss problem or an issue with the gear or square shaft where speedometer hooks to tranny/ if speedo works just no overdrive there is a temp sensor on the tranny that can keep od from working or may be wiring issue with factory od on/off switch
