Theftlock is just for the radio, it shouldn't interfere with the car being able to start
have the ignition check to see if its worn. if the theftlock/passlock system doesnt recognize the key it wont let it start
In 1991 the first ever Chevrolet Malibu Maxx was produced/manufactured which caused a lot of people to trade in their cars and start upgrading to the new and advanced Chevrolet.
1997 chev Malibu doesn't start but then if relay is wiggled by engine under hood car starts can this be fixed
have the ignition cylinder checked. if its worn out the theftlock system may not recognize the key and disable the starter. do-it-yourself: pop the hood and unplug every sensor you can access. wait 5 mins plug them back in (this will reset the theftlock system) and (quickly) try to start the car. if it starts, drive it to a mechanic
loose or damaged wires in ignition system.intake manifold vacuum leaks in intake or hoses. or its not getting fuel to injectors.
It would be best to have a certified technician look at that as it can be quite complicated.
I had the same problem just a week ago with my 2000 Malibu. It was the fuel pump. The AAA man had me try to start it while he banged on the gas tank (below and behind the drivers seat) and the car started....I drove staright to the garage!
I would check the ignition timing and set it to the desired specifications. Next I would clean the throttle plate.
Turn to the key to start Leave it in the start position for ten minutes (you will know it works because the theft system light will stop blinking) Turn to off for one minute Then start your car... (I own this car myself, I am looking for a permanent way to get rid of the never start nightmare)
Is the check engine light "ON" and if so have you had it diagnosed? Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump?
2001 chevy malibu alarm won't start
could be a bad fuel pump,or just a fuse or relay burnt out!!fuses and relay are in under hood fuse box.
